Fall approaches and I find myself looking forward to the smell of new pencils, unwrapping a fresh sheaf of notebook paper, and Indian Summer. I love those extra days of warmth and fresh breezes as I put my garden to bed for the season. It was the summer of the cucumber in my vegetable patch; the Echinacea produced endless cut flowers, and the lavender filled the borders. While I cut and weed, I also look forward to the wonderful programs which Annamarie Brancovsky has assembled for us. At the end of September, we appropriately kick off our schedule with a tour of Chef Scott Ryan's garden at The Country Club. He will answer your questions about vegetable and herb gardens. He may also give us tips about what to do with all those zucchinis--especially the huge one lurking beneath the leaves and vines. We will follow the tour with a delicious lunch which celebrates the bounty of the season. I hope you will join me for an informative morning and a fun-filled lunch.
