You Make a Difference

Each year, members of the Shaker Lakes Garden Club are requested to make a contribution, above and beyond dues, to fund charitable projects that fit within the club’s mission. Proposals submitted for these projects are carefully vetted by the Charitable Projects Committee and the very best are voted upon by the membership. Over the years, our club has nurtured small projects and strengthened larger ones.

Many thanks to our Charitable Projects Committee – Jane Ellison, Robin Schachat, Martha Marsh, Jennifer Moeller, Maura O’Donnell-McCarthy, Lynn Lehmann, Margaret Ransohoffand Nancy Zambie – for their time and thoughtful consideration of the proposals we received. They provided informed and diverse perspectives, and we all felt confident and comfortable with the outcome of our discussions. Charitable Projects 2016

The Charitable Projects Committee met on March 3 and chose two proposals worthy of a $5,000 award, the largest that the club gives annually.  Club members will vote for the project they prefer at the April membership meeting, or a written vote may be submitted before April 23 if they are unable to attend the meeting.
