Dear Mary Bruce,
Though we are dealing with a global pandemic, we will still celebrate your club’s centennial membership in The Garden Club of America in 2020.
And happily so! On behalf of the GCA Executive Board, it is my privilege to congratulate the Shaker Lakes Garden Club and to thank it for its notable contributions to the GCA over the past one hundred years. The club has played an integral role in the furtherance of the GCA’s storied legacy.
The foundation of the GCA is its 201 extraordinary member clubs, and nearly 18,000 talented club members. Since 1913, the GCA and its member clubs have worked together to stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening, to share the advantages of association by means of educational meetings, conferences, correspondence, and publications, and to restore, improve, and protect the quality of the environment through educational programs and action in the fields of conservation and civic improvement.
Here’s to the next century, as we continue to realize the GCA’s vision of informed volunteers working together for a beautiful, healthy planet .
