‘FANTASTICA’
As you know by now, SLGC will host a flower show on Sept 8, 2023 at the Shaker Heights Public Library on Lee Road (newly renovated).
Now is the time to think about what you have grown that would be fun to show — flowers, fruits & veg, berried branches, etc. — to share with us and to make our show a lovely display, as well as to provide education to us and to the public who use the Library. And winning a ribbon isn’t all bad!
It is also the time to peruse catalogues and think about planting something you have seen in another garden, or to take a flier and say, “I want to try to grow that!” If nobody tells you it is difficult to grow, you will probably succeed! That has been my experience!
We had a wonderful Begonia propagation workshop courtesy of Jennifer Hartford, and led by our Fearless Leader, Cynthia. We all came home with our mini “greenhouses”, full of high hopes to show our new babies next September in the show.
This is what Garden Club is all about — fun together, learning to grow, propagate, and educate ourselves and others.
