It’s a Field Trip!

Jane Ellison and Barb Horrigan

Saturday, September 23, 1:30 pm
Aurora Sanctuary State Nature Preserve
891 E Pioneer Trail, Aurora, Ohio 44202

Join us to climb the stairs SLGC made possible with our support of the Audubon Society of Greater Cleveland. It was your generous contributions to the Charitable Projects Fund that made these stairs on a slippery, dangerous slope in the Aurora Sanctuary possible!

AND….. you will be dazzled by an elusive, stunning and unearthly beauty, the Fringed Gentian (Gentianopsis crinita). It is a lovely shade of blue with flowers that open in the sun and close at night, the flower's petals twisting around each other. It ranks among the most beautiful of all wildflowers. These are the last wildflowers to bloom in the fall, along with the more common Bottle Gentian (G. andrewsii) and Ladies Tresses (Spiranthes spiralis, an orchid). We hope to see them all!

Rain or shine, pray for sun and an unforgettable display! Hike will be about 1 mile on some uneven terrain, dress in sturdy shoes.

Meet at the Brettschneider/Audubon parking lot on the north side of Pioneer Trail a few hundred yards east of Page Road in Aurora.

Guests welcome!

Please let us know. RSVP to Jane Ellison (jane.slgc@gmail.com) or Barb Horrigan (bmaniscalo@yahoo.com).
