SLGC

From the Floral Design tech corner and the Zone X Floral Design Chair (Fern MacMillan)…

If you are interested in seeing the entrants to some of the GCA flower shows, I encourage all of you to follow on Instagram flowershowjunkie. There are amazing photographs of the Memphis flower show - Rhythm and Hues.

Remember to check out the GCA monthly eNews. It is emailed monthly to every GCA member. The Floral Design committee's submissions are  included in the email. Be sure to scroll down to catch the information. Often you will also find a great idea from the FD committee.

A Successful Weed Wrangle!

On Saturday, April 27, a brave group of SLGC ladies, their friends and children performed a WEED WRANGLE at the Nature Center at Shaker Lakes.  We cleared this month’s Nature in My Backyard Evil Plant, PRIVET, from the woodlands along South Park Blvd across from the NCSL entrance.  An astonishing amount of work was accomplished in only two hours under the leadership of our Conservation Chair, Petra Moran, and the NCSL’s Nick Minash.  Here is an idea of how HUGE those privet invasions can get – yes that huge green infestation is ALL privet behind our intrepid teenagers!

             from Suzy Hartford:

 FREE to a good home!

Primula japonica/Drumstick Primroses

They LIKE moisture, wettish but will be happy in shady to partly sunny. Mine are also happy in full sun with an irrigation system. You probably saw and admired them at Lantern Court.  I get 2- 4 "balls" of magenta flowers going up the stem.

Contact Suzy who will dig them up but won't plant them.
