A Recycling Primer

As the holidays approach, many will be getting newer and better electronics. The question is what to do with the old. Cleveland Heights and many suburbs will take them for recycling but their schedule might not be yours. What to do?

1. Ret3 Job Corp will take them and your old telephones too. They will cannibalize them and donate repaired items to non-profits. Dropoff is easy; they are at 1814 East 40th, north of Chester with good signage. Hours are 8:00-3:00.

2. If you are as glad as I to see the end of the political season, you want to get rid of the signs. You can always use them to make your own hoop house to extend the growing season OR you can take them to Larchmere Fire Works. They would be delighted to take the metal stands and use them for glassblowing projects. You can toss them on their front porch at 12406 Larchmere. They are right by Felice. 216/246-4716.

3. If you are confused by what we can and cannot recycle nowadays, here are some websites that make it much clearer:

Go to Cuyahogarecycles.org see what your suburb says about general recycling, or specific information about recycling plastics or plastic bags.

4. Do not forget that all these Amazon purchases can be helpful to our Charitable Project fund. On your first visit to AmazonSmile, you're prompted to select a charitable organization from our list of eligible organizations. SLGC is one. The amount is small but so is each grain of sand on a beautiful beach.
