ON THE ROAD WITH THE GCA: GREENWOOD GARDENS

Thursday, May 16, 2024        11 AM – 3 PM
Short Hills, New Jersey

Join Executive Director Abby O’Neill for a presentation, “From Pleasant Days to Greenwood - A Century of Change in the Garden,” about Greenwood’s history and its evolution to a public garden. Then, enjoy a “look back in time” tour of the 1950’s Main House with Stephanie Murphy, Public Engagement Manager. Enjoy lunch outside on the terrace overlooking the gardens before you head out on a tour of the site with Sonia Uyterhoeven, Head of Horticulture, who will highlight many of Greenwood’s favorite native plants and delightful plant combinations, along with historic structures. You will also have a chance to visit the gift shop at the end of the tour. The gardens evolve every season so even if you have visited Greenwood Gardens in the past, you won’t want to miss this wonderful opportunity to view a “new” and beautiful Spring garden, voted “Prettiest Garden in New Jersey” by NJ Family magazine!

Please register here. Final date for registration is April 5, 2024.  This event will have a time-stamped waitlist if it reaches the maximum capacity. Should a member cancel their registration, the next person on the waitlist will be moved into a completed registration and charged the total price for the trip.

ON THE ROAD WITH THE GCA MARTHA STEWART'S GARDEN

June 11, 2024   10 AM – 3:30 PM

Please join us at 10:00 am for a very special tour of Martha Stewart’s garden in Bedford, New York. Martha has redesigned Cantitoe Farm and its 153 acres. This multi-year effort includes the restoration of the old homes on the property, building a stone stable and two greenhouses, not to mention planting a maze, a maple woodland, a boxwood allee, an azalea garden, and many, many trees. After the tour, we will enjoy an elegant lunch at Susan Burke’s home and tour her garden which is documented in the Smithsonian Archive of American Gardens. Then we head to Barbara Israel’s spectacular garden filled with roses and sculpture.

Please register on the GCA website here. Registration is open now, and will close April 30, 2024, although the registered list may close before then if GCA reaches maximum tour capacity.  A “first come, first served” Wait List will be kept.
