From the President...

Dozie Herbruck

Thank you all for your confidence in my leadership! As we begin the next chapter, I look forward to working with you to continue to connect each other and our communities to plants and the joy of gardening. Many of you have already been so helpful in guiding me, especially Leigh, who was instrumental in leading us through the unprecedented pandemic. Let us now keep forging ahead to garden, create and advocate!

Brief Updates and Notables:

  • Thank you to Annamarie and Judith for being such lovely hostesses and for opening their homes to us for our Annual Meeting and Provisional Tea.

  • Welcome to our new provisionals- Carmen Fonesca, Catherine Hunnicutt and Gail Stein.

  • New Executive Committee, Trustees and Committee Chairs are listed for 2022-23. A huge thanks to them for saying YES! Our first board meeting is Sept 20, 9 am at Marcie Bergman’s.

  • If there are any changes to the directory, please submit to me no later than Aug 3. Caroline Emmet is working on our yearbook and hopes to have it finished ASAP.

  • We would love for you to submit a photo of yourself for our website. If you haven’t done so already, please send to Dozie.

  • Don’t forget the GCA photo contest. Rules are here and you submit starting Aug 1!

  • For those who received dahlia tubers last April, I hope they are growing well! Contact me if you’re having issues. Otherwise, let’s plan to show them in Sept or Oct. Stay tuned for location.

  • Amy Miller and Hallie Stewart are working on the final details for our upcoming programs. The first one in September will be TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27

    • 10:00 a.m. - Business meeting followed by the Irishtown Bend Park LAND Studio project team who will give our club a tour of the space and a history of the land and how the renovated 23 acre waterfront park will connect vital areas in Cleveland such as Ohio City, the Flats and Downtown. Enjoy lunch on Merwin's Wharf afterwards weather permitting. Location: Irishtown Bend Park, Cleveland (exact meeting location TBD).

  • COMMITTEE CHAIRS- if you are planning pop-up gatherings, let’s begin promoting them! It’ll be great fun to have gatherings around floral design, horticulture and other topics!

Happy End of Summer!
