 Happy Fall Everyone!

As we begin to put our gardens to bed for the year and turn our focus toward more indoor activities and the holidays (!), I want to encourage and inspire all of you to be more active and engaged in our club's activities this fall/winter and next spring. We all know the adage: you reap what you sow. With that in mind, why not join us for some of the fun activities that are planned for this fall?

Here are a few ways that I believe can help us become even more active:

Monthly Meetings: Please make an effort to attend our monthly meetings regularly. These gatherings are opportunities for learning from accomplished leaders in gardening related fields. It’s also where we can share knowledge and experiences, and better connect with each other.

  • Workshops, Events and Visiting Gardens: Participate in and support our garden workshops, events and tours. Your involvement in these activities really builds a strong club!

  • Community Outreach: We have a unique opportunity to engage with the broader community. Whether you donate your time and talent to worthy organizations like Rid-All or BigHearted Blooms or your treasure to our Charitable Projects fund, these are examples of why SLGC matters to NE Ohio.

  • Knowledge Sharing: Many of you have a wealth of gardening knowledge and experience. You can share your expertise with fellow members through programs like Nature in My Backyard. Or, simply consider writing articles for our monthly newsletter.

I understand that we all have busy lives, but I believe that the rewards of an active and engaged garden club go far beyond the time and effort invested. Gardening is not just a hobby for me and I hope you feel the same about what it means to you. Gardening is a way I connect with nature and (hopefully) create a little beauty in our world. That’s why we belong to Shaker Lakes Garden Club- we connect people to plants!

Thank you for your dedication to our club and I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting on Tuesday, Nov 28 at Rid-All.
